There are various structures in the knee joint that can cause pain. The knee has to withstand high loads, especially in sports such as tennis, squash, soccer, skiing, etc. The increased load leads to osteoarthritis. Often in combination with meniscus wear and fraying at the menisci. But the knee joint can also react painfully due to a misalignment of the pelvis, spine or feet.
